Setting Up AOL Email Accounts on Outlook Express
Using AOL's open email access, any email client with IMAP support can read and send AOL email.
Since Outlook Express is a very capable IMAP email client, and it is embedded into the Word process many of our customers use for emailing 'Merge Letters' from BookingCenter,we offer advice here for setting up BookingCenter to use it for emailing Merge Letters through AOL.
To access an AOL email account with Outlook Express:
Cliff Notes for Advanced Users:
Make sure your email client supports IMAP.
Create a new account with the following configuration options:
IMAP server: imap.aol.com.
IMAP login: your AOL screenname.
IMAP password: your AOL screenname password.
IMAP port: 143.
Outgoing:
Set the outgoing (SMTP) mail server to smtp.aol.com.
Make sure SMTP authentication is enabled for this server.
Enter your screenname as the user name and
your AOL screennname's password as the password.
Make sure the SMTP server port is set to 587.
