Installing the Version 5 Upgrade

Purchasing the Version 5 Upgrade

There are 4 easy ways to purchase the Version 5 Upgrade.

  1. Online
    If you have a credit card, the easiest way to purchase a registration key is on line at http://www.BookingCenter.com/store/
  2. Fax.
    Simply Fax the Order Form you can download from http://www.BookingCenter.com/support to +1-718-228-5959
  3. Telephone.
    Call the BookingCenter Sales Team : +1-707-874-3922 (toll free in North America at 1-800-315-0042)
  4. Postal mail.
    Fill out the Order Form you can download fromhttp://www.BookingCenter.com/support and mail to:

Registering BookingCenter Ver 5

Once you have purchased and installed the upgrade, you will launch BookingCenter and be told you have an incorrect ‘Lock Code’. Simply hit ‘OK’, login to the Internet with your computer running BookingCenter, choose Parameters | Company Information | Register and click the button that says Register. If you do not have Internet access to auto-register the upgrade, you will have to manually enter the Lock Code that is sent when you purchased the Upgrade. This will be sent by email automatically from BookingCenter, can be faxed to you from the Sales Team (sales@BookingCenter.com), or provided directly to you when you call +1-707-874-3922.

Each computer that runs BookingCenter will also require a new Serial Number. The old BookingCenter serial numbers will NOT work with Version 5. You will therefore need an additional user license Upgrade for each Extra User you are running and will need to ‘re-serialize’ each computer after running the Updater on each computer that runs BookingCenter.

Support for Upgrading to Ver.5

BookingCenter offers free support for the 30 days after you purchase the Version 5 Upgrade. Our technical support team is happy to assist with any questions or problems concerning the BookingCenter PMS software, service, or network. System Requirements for Version 5

BookingCenter PMS runs on any Apple Macintosh™ (System 7, 8, 9, and OS X in 'Classic Mode') or Windows™ compatible computer (Win 3.x, 95,98,NT, 2000, XP). The software requires 10 MB of hard disk space and a minimum of 10 MB of free RAM (Random Access Memory). To take advantage of BookingCenter's Global Booking Network requires your computer to be able to connect to the Internet.

New Remote Backup Module

BookingCenter still offers the ability to use the Backup process to backup the BookingCenter datafile to a local hard drive or local server. With Version 5, we added two new levels of off-site backup support:

  1. BookingCenter-Hosted Backup Service:
    For customers with current Support Contracts, our new 'remote backup' allows BookingCenter customers to save datafiles on our servers every night, reducing reliance on local backup and assuring BookingCenter has current data to support you should the need arrive.
  2. Remote Backup
    For customers who have remote servers that can be accessed via FTP from their property, our new 'remote backup' allows a customer to save datafiles on their own remote servers every night, reducing their reliance on local backup. This feature can be purchased as a Module online.

Enhanced Module Support With Version 5

  1. Multi-User Licenses
    All computers on a network (Linux, Macs and Windows) can now work concurrently with BookingCenter. With Mac OS 9/X and Windows 95/NT/2000/XP, this network can be expanded to the Internet - allowing easy management of a property over any Internet connection.
  2. Group Bookings
    Version 5 has added the ability to add and remove any Booking to a Group Booking - or Add and Remove a booking from a Group Booking. This works especially well for customers who require 'split bookings' where they add and remove rooms to a Group account and want the prices to change based upon the rate of the Rooms added and removed to a Group Booking.
  3. Point of Sale
    BookingCenter can be used as a complete Point of sale system, enabling each computer to act as a full-featured cash register. With the POS Module, you can process credit cards in real-time with the most cost-efficient - and EASIEST! - processing system on the market. All reports and management are unified - a truly amazing efficiency and auditing improvement!
  4. Call Accounting
    For businesses that use PBX systems, Version 5 includes an improvement in the use of BookingCenter with CommSoft’s CallMaster Call Accounting application. CommSoft recently purchased its company back from an international consortia and released an improved version that now works seamlessly with BookingCenter. Nearly all PBX systems in N. America, Europe, Commonwealth countries, and the Americas can use the Call Accounting off-the-shelf. By installing the Call Accounting module, you can automatically bill all calls to the Guest between check-in and check-out.
  5. Conference Management
    The Conference Management has been updated to enable more and easier reporting, email notices, and better daily manage of breakout rooms and group events such as seminars and special events.

Installation Process for Updating

After purchaisng the Upgrader, you will be provided with a file for your computer by logging into the Support Area.

  1. Make sure that you have selected the correct updater for your computer's operating system.
  2. MAKE A BACKUP OF YOUR BOOKINGCENTER DATAFILE!!!!
  3. Double-click the file called Ver5_Upgrade.exe for Windows or Version 5 Upgrade for Macintosh.
  4. Click on Install Now button and follow the instructions on screen.
  5. The program will update all the files in your BookingCenter folder that need to be updated.

To launch BookingCenter, just double-click on the icon as you used to. The new version will be installed and BookingCenter will ask to upgrade your datafile to version 5 after confirming you have made a backup copy. Upgrade the datafile and away you go!

Updated Documentation for Ver. 5

BookingCenter installs a BookingCenter Manual in the "BookingCenter" folder on your hard drive. This new documentation has been written to help you with using the new features found in BookingCenter ver. 5. You can also download the new Manual for your computer here.
